HANDICAPS
Prestbury Golf Club is affiliated to the Cheshire Union of Golf Clubs
and as such is bound by the provisions of the WHS. A copy of which is
available online.
A member of more than one club must nominate a home club which
will then be responsible for their handicap administration. If you are
transferring from another club, please inform the office if you wish your
‘home’ club to be Prestbury.
OBTAINING A HANDICAP
A handicap must be earned. No player has the right to a handicap
without providing full evidence of their ability.
Gentlemen:
To obtain a handicap the Board requires a player to return three cards
for rounds at Prestbury marked under Medal Play conditions from either
the Yellow or White tees. It is preferable that the cards are marked by a
member, but any responsible person may record the scores and sign the
card providing such person is acceptable to the Director of Handicaps.
Members are recommended to return all three cards at the same time
clearly marked ‘cards for handicap’.
Ladies:
To obtain a handicap the Board requires a player to return three cards
for rounds at Prestbury marked under Medal Play conditions from the
Red tees. It is preferable that the cards are marked by a member, but any
responsible person may record the scores and sign the card providing
such person is acceptable to the Ladies Handicap Secretary. The cards
must total 54 holes but can consist of 9- or 18-hole cards (the same
applies to a player wishing to regain their ‘c’ status). In the case of 9-hole
cards it is expected that there is an even distribution of both front 9 and
back 9 holes, all cards must be clearly marked ‘cards for handicap’ and
placed in the competition box in the ladies locker room.
